An effective door for evangelism has opened to us among the Runyankole-speaking people of Western Uganda. More than FOUR MILLION people speak this language. For nearly 75 years the Lord has sent us to some of the most unreached and forgotten people. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the ONE MESSAGE that brings solution and restoration to broken people. These are an ancient and proud people, but the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic have caused unspeakable pain, disease, death and economic hardship to the people. Businesses, markets, even churches have been closed. The people have been starving. Many widows, unable to feed their children, have become prostitutes on the street, referred to as the “Ladies of the Night.” It is the work of Satan to destroy bodies, dignity and lives.
“WE ARE DYING WITHOUT HOPE AND WITHOUT JESUS”
One man, with a passion to help his people, sent me a WhatsApp request: “Please talk to our people over live radio. Our people are in despair and I believe you have the message that we need. Our nation of Uganda is dying without hope and without Jesus!” This invitation touched me deeply. So, I spoke to the nation – the Runyankole-speaking people – and presented a clear message of the Gospel. The station owner wrote to me, “Your down to earth teaching is restoring hope and purpose to our people in Western Uganda. Your prayers are restoring health and joy to those who were suffering. We are overwhelmed by the number of testimonies of healing and conversions that have poured into the station. THANK YOU for lifting your voice to us!” That was just the beginning …
From that first broadcast, this Uganda Radio Mission has spread tremendously. Hundreds of conversions have been reported, uncounted miracles of healing have been witnessed. At least five new churches have been planted and many converts – including Muslims – have been baptized in water. See the pictures above and hear the report directly from Uganda: “We hired a self-amplified speaker and climbed the Rwampapa hills to visit the many converts from the radio program. A lady allowed us to use her property for the new church gathering. The people who accepted Christ through the radio, organized themselves and got that yellow thing, a tarpaulin, and made a shelter as a place to fellowship. I saw how they love Jesus and their new faith. Before they were animists and demon worshippers. Many testified of being healed during the radio programs. A new church is planted and we’re planning a big baptism event.”
RADIO STATION FLOODED WITH CALLS REPORTING CONVERSIONS AND MIRACLES
The Gospel transforms lives and heals broken hearts. A woman heard one of the radio programs. She was preparing to commit suicide because of the anguish of her heart. The witchdoctor had taken her child and sacrificed her to cancel the spread of Covid. The woman fell into deep depression and she lost the will to live. But when she heard the Good News of Jesus’ love and sacrifice for her, she chose to follow Him. She called the radio station and reported, “I was going to take my life. But when I heard that Jesus died for me, I knew that I didn’t have to die. Now I want to live!” This woman contacted the pastor (who has served as my interpreter) and said, “Come with me to the grave of my daughter. I want to pray and forgive the man who sacrificed her.” THIS IS THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL to heal hearts.
This child was nearly sacrificed by a witchdoctor. She recovered, but many children are not being rescued. We are giving HOPE to Uganda and delivering people from the fear of witchdoctors. God’s love brings deliverance and gives new beginnings.
MUSLIMS ARE ACCEPTING JESUS
Many Muslims have accepted Jesus as the true, LIVING prophet of God. One such man listened to my message on God’s Big Picture (the story of the Gospel). When he heard the truth, he ran to the church to give his life to Jesus. When the message of Christ is proclaimed, the Holy Spirit works in human hearts to bring transformation.
FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST REQUEST WATER BAPTISM
The Gospel is being broadcast in Western Uganda three times weekly. Messages on healing, salvation and instruction to new converts are filling the airwaves. We have held special Communion services over the radio. That was an historic first for Uganda! The faith of the people is being restored and joy is returning. Hundreds of conversions and healings are reported each week. Continual baptism services are being conducted.
We have given 120 Runyankole Bibles to pastors who have never owned a Bible. On the day of distribution, I ministered to them, teaching them how to use the Bible and interpret it properly. These basic teachings are desperately needed. Another 120 Bibles are urgently requested.
“LADIES OF THE NIGHT” – SELLING THEIR BODIES TO FEED THEIR CHILDREN NOW GIVE THEIR LIVES TO JESUS.
The women who formerly were called the “Ladies of the Night,” need a way to make money to feed their children. Scores of them have turned away from their old way of life, determined to trust Jesus to take care of them and their babies. This urgent need is burning in my heart. We must provide an economic NEW BEGINNING that echoes the spiritual NEW BEGINNING that they have received through faith in Jesus.

“Daughters of Hope Creations.” This is a program to provide skills training for these women, so that they can open shops and make a living. It is God’s desire to restore the dignity of these women and train their hands to produce creative products that are easy to sell in Ugandan markets. All fees include two weeks to four months of training.
