Jesus for Indonesia 20th and 21st Centuries

Indonesia is a vast nation of over 17,000 islands, and 1,300 different ethnic groups. Some of these ancient tribes were headhunters as recently as the 1950s. Indonesia is the fourth largest nation with a population of over 280,000,000 people, over 220,000,000 of whom are Muslim. Indonesia has the largest number of Muslims of any nation. INDONESIA REMAINS FERTILE GROUND FOR THE GOSPEL. Only the resurrected Jesus and His undeniable miracles can convince the Muslims, Buddhists, and Confucianists that THE GOSPEL IS TRUE!

In 1954, in the 20th century – our family, Drs. T.L. Osborn and Daisy Washburn Osborn, my brother, Tommy Jr. and I, traveled by ship from Argentina to Indonesia. As we reflect on the Osborn ministries in the 20th Century and in the 21st Century, we see that the NEEDS of people – the POWER of the Gospel – the MIRACLES of the resurrected Jesus – and the response of people have not changed!

In 1954 our FIRST Classic DocuMiracle film, Java Harvest, was produced. Filmed by Dr. Daisy, with her 16mm Bolex camera, the wonders of God were captured. The massive crusades were the first of their kind both in Jakarta and Surabaya. This Classic Docu- Miracle takes you back in time to witness the UNCHANGING Christ at work in Indonesia.

A Christian neighbor told them about the Osborn crusade and they brought him there. He received Jesus, was healed and many more family members were saved. Many also became preachers. Traveling from nation to nation was the norm for our family. Our lives, prioritizing the Gospel to the world, is all that my brother and I knew.

For seven years – in the 21st Century – we pressed through political and religious challenges to bring Christ and His Gospel to seven different islands of Indonesia. In the first city, the Muslim radicals literally drove us out of town after restricting us to house arrest. But this increased our determination to return to Indonesia to complete our Gospel assignment. Every subsequent city received us with open arms and thousands of Muslims accepted Jesus and experienced marvelous miracles of healing.

This is how the 1954 visitation to Indonesia began. (From my father’s diary.)

“We were in South America. Our campaign in Paraguay had been closed by the President after we had spent almost all we had. We had gone to Chile and had begun a mighty campaign there.

For over two years Indonesia had been on our hearts.

One day we walked down a street in Santiago de Chile; we passed a Steamship Company office. The Lord impressed me! “This is the time. Go in there and book your passage to Java.” We had no money – not even enough to get home. It seemed foolish to book passage at such a time, but I knew obedience was the secret in a life of faith. I nudged Daisy and said, “Honey, we’re going in here to book our passage to Java! Are you ready to go?” She beamed with delight. It was a dream come true.

Our inquiry revealed that one boat was sailing the month we wanted to leave. Only one cabin with accommodation for four was left un-reserved! The Lord said to me, “That’s your room. Book it!” I told the agent, “Reserve that cabin for us. We will take it.” He said, “Upon confirmation of this booking from the Buenos Aires office, be prepared to purchase your tickets. That will be in about three days.” I asked: “How much will it cost?” He figured the fares, “About 2,380 U.S. dollars, Sir.” The most unusual feeling swept over my soul. The Lord seemed so near. I knew He was guiding each step of the way. “Request the reservations. Write up the tickets, and I will be back in three days to pay the fares,” I affirmed. And as we walked out of the door, we could hardly keep from shouting.

Two days later a letter arrived from South India. A Canadian Missionary in that far away country had been praying. God spoke to her to send T.L. Osborn and his wife $2,400.00 immediately and urge them to come to the Orient for Evangelistic and Healing Campaigns. The check was enclosed! Praise the Lord!

On the third day, we returned to the Steamship Company; a cable confirming our passage was there; the tickets were written and waiting. We paid the passage and boarded the S. S. Tegelberg in Buenos Aires, Argentina on schedule for a voyage to Indonesia.The Lord alone led … (Deut. 32:12). – T.L. Osborn

After a high fever, this Muslim man was left with no ability to walk. He could only crawl on the ground. The third night that he attended the T.L. & Daisy Osborn campaign, he accepted Jesus and was healed.

This young man lost his hearing after an accident. He was hesitant to attend the T.L. & Daisy Osborn meeting, but his family persuaded him to come. On the first night, he accepted Jesus and his hearing was restored.

He was born deaf and had never spoken a word. During the T.L. & Daisy Osborn campaign, immediately his ears were opened. The shock on his face is captured in the Classic DocuMiracle video, Java Harvest.

From 1936 to 1954 this man suffered from leprosy. He and his family were Buddhists. When he came to the T.L. & Daisy Osborn campaign in Djakarta, he believed in Christ and was completely healed.

During the Waingapu Festival of Faith and Miracles, Dr. LaDonna was asked to minister at the maximum security prison. Hundreds of prisoners received Jesus and scores were healed of various sicknesses.

The cancer on this woman’s face, in Bitung, began to shrink as soon as she received Jesus. By the final day of Dr. LaDonna Osborn’s festival, the cancer had drained and already reduced to this small size.

This dear tribal man was blind when he attended Dr. LaDonna’s Festival of Faith and Miracles. He was in shock when his eyes came open after he chose to believe on Jesus.

In Bitung, we could not keep count of the number of cripples, paralytics, and stroke victims that were wonderfully healed. Jesus continues to forgive sin and heal sickness and infirmity.

In Malang, another blind woman is healed. The people witnessing this miracle are amazed. THE SAME JESUS WHO DID WONDERS IN INDONESIA 70 YEARS AGO IS STILL THE SAME HEALING JESUS!
