His message read: “The people of Uganda are dying without hope and without Jesus. You have the message that will bring hope and will heal our nation. Will you teach for one hour on the radio?” Immediately, I replied, “YES!” That was the beginning of a Gospel focused, ministry relationship that continues to this day!
One of the first miracles from this radio outreach was the founding of the DAUGHTERS OF HOPE CREATIONS Skill Training Program.
Scores of “ladies of the night,” or prostitutes were accepting Christ as they heard the good news about Jesus and His love for them. My heart rejoiced, but also I knew that these women were only “vending their bodies” because they had no other way to support their children. Now they had accepted Christ and refused to go back to the streets. What were we to do? The Lord placed the vision for DAUGHTERS OF HOPE CREATIONS in my heart.
In partnership with our Ugandan associates, we began with 40 converted former “ladies of the night.” We offered a variety of skills to train these women, equipping them to begin their
own businesses, to support their families with dignity. There were 20 in the tailoring program and 20 in the hair dressing program. (These two programs remain the most popular.) Every six months, a NEW BATCH of 40 women begin training.
Throughout the 4-6 months of training, every day these women are discipled and taught how to live the Jesus-life.
The women graduates marched down the street of Mbarara, Uganda, celebrating with a brass band. These women who were “nobodies” are now capturing the attention of the city.
A representative from the President’s office, the City Development Officer, the City Probation Officer, and police officers were among the honored dignitaries, celebrating the achievement of these women. We are witnessing what the Scripture says in Psalm 113:7: He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with royalty …
“My life as a prostitute was a black hole of death. I got pregnant two times by men I didn’t know. One left me and the baby with HIV Aids. My life was over; I had no hope or desire to live. I had a plan to buy poison and kill myself and my two babies. But I thank God who caused me to listen to the radio that night. I heard the Gospel that the woman Bishop Osborn preached. The message was so clear and I could feel love coming from the radio. I accepted Jesus as my Savior. His light showed me the way out of the black hole. Now I have graduated with a skill; I have a job; I can buy milk and food for my babies and pay my house rent. Look what God did for me!”

“I was not born with a lame leg, but polio left me this way. My father said I would curse the entire family, so he threw my mother and me out. My mother remarried, but the new man put also me out. So I ran back to my father, who had by now married another woman. But she abused me with pain and great cruelty. So I ran away and began selling my body to anyone who could pay. This is the only way I could eat and survive. This is when I landed on the radio program with Bishop Osborn. Her words poured into my ears and I believed on Jesus. Then I was accepted into the DAUGHTERS OF HOPE CREATIONS Skill Training Program to learn hair dressing. I learned so fast that people were hiring my skill even before I graduated. THE LORD REMEMBERED ME and now I will be starting my own hair salon very soon. I want to train other women who have been rejected like me. I believe God can use me for that.”

At every graduation, the goal is to present a “starter kit” to each graduate, based on her learned skill. So far, we’ve only been able to give a sewing machine to a few of the 40 graduates. We want to do more. Each quality, industrial sewing machine costs about $800. The hair dryers cost about $50. These kits need to include mirrors, brushes, dummy heads, etc. The tailoring students also need cloth, tape measures, thread, needles, machine oil, etc. With complete “starter kits,” each graduate is able to set up her own business, hire and teach others, and provide food and needed assistance to their own families.
through her training, graduation, and provide a fully stocked “starter kit’ for $1,000.
To sponsor one month of three times weekly Gospel radio programs, the cost is $700.
This is our ministry.
This is what we do.
